Alvin R. Kreder, Sr.

Alvin R. Kreder, Sr., age 97, of West, formerly of West, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 22, 2008 at Hillcrest Hospital in Waco. Graveside services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Olive Branch Cemetery near Leroy, with Gary Wines officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Alvin was born on September 9, 1911 near Gerald, TX, the son of Herman and Minnie (Hessel) Kreder. He attended Gerald school and on June 5, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ethel Parker in Falls County. She preceded him in death on August 3, 1999. He worked for Schmaltz Feed Mill in Leroy for 45 years before retiring in 1970 and he was also a farmer. Alvin was a member of The Leroy Church and the Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed gardening, fishing, spending time with his family, and was an avid football fan, especially of the Dallas Cowboys. He is also preceded in death by his parents and was the last surviving of their seven children. Survivors include five sons, James W. Kreder and wife Barbara of Lacy Lakeview, Gary Kreder and wife JoAnn of Ross, Larry Kreder and wife Linda of Carrollton, Alvin R. Kreder, Jr. of Ross, and Danny Ray Kreder of Waco; four daughters, Mary Ann Carey of Houston, Alvina Sue Lange and husband Billy of Bellville, Joy Beth Kreder of Houston, and Julie Mechell and husband Terry of West; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren, three great- great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Pallbearers are James D. Kreder, John Carey, Jr., Gary Kreder, Jr., Alex Kreder, Alvin Kreder, III, Rodney Lange, Justin Mechell, and Danny Kreder II. Memorials may be made to the Leroy Church or the Leroy Volunteer Fire Department.
