Alphonse Elo Svrcek, age 78, of West, passed away late Sunday evening, October 27, 2024 West Rest Haven in West.
A rosary will be recited and funeral service held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 1, 2024 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Deacon Ronnie Sykora officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery.
Alphonse was born December 18, 1945 in West, the son of J.E. and Hattie (Hynek) Svrcek. He was born disabled and became blind later in life. Alphonse lived in a group home in Waco through MHMR, later being assumed by Better Homes. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and the KJT Society # 31, both in West. Alphonse enjoyed fidgeting with copper wire and listening to country music.
Alphonse is preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Billy Marek; a nephew, Michael Marek; and a niece, Denise Marek.
Survivors include his siblings, Helen Marek of Georgetown, Henry Svrcek and wife Betty Jean of Bryan, Dorothy Dudik and husband Daniel of Palestine, and Jim Svrcek and wife Pok of Elm Mott; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Pallbearers are Ethan Duggan, Jacob Duggan, Steven Svrcek, Chris Svrcek, Dow Presley, and Bruce Teseny.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
The family would like to thank MHMR and the staff of Better Homes in Waco, for their love and care shown to Alphonse.
