Alice Holder

Alice Holder, age 93, of Bellmead, passed away early Monday afternoon, September 15, 2014 at The Atrium in Bellmead. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014 at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Alice was born April 14, 1921 in Shelbyville, TN, the daughter of Walter and Elsie (York) Wallace. She attended Chalk Bluff School and graduated from Lorena High School. On October 1, 1939, she was united in marriage to Robert Holder in Waco. Robert preceded her in death on September 21, 1984. Alice was a seamstress for Jean Marie Dress Shop for over 20 years until her retirement in 1982. She also worked for the Donahue Laundromat, did crop farming and had a dairy at one time. She was a member of Tokio Baptist Church, where she taught vacation Bible School and Sunday School. She was also a member of Odd Fellows Bellmead Rebekah Lodge #213. Alice enjoyed quilting, canning, baking, gardening, reading, embroidering, working puzzles, collecting rocks and butterflies, traveling with her family, hiking, playing card games, especially Skip Bo. Alice is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, William L. "Dickie" Holder; and a brother, Marshall Wallace. Survivors include three daughters, Laura Ann Schofield of West, Ruby Rueffer and husband Melvin of Lacy Lakeview, and Barbara Ainsworth and husband John of Groesbeck; two sons, Walter Holder and wife Judy of Lacy Lakeview and Billy Ray Holder and wife Sylvia of West; one sister, Verna Lewis of Temple; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Zachary Jatzlau, Chad Jatzlau, Danny Cunningham, Walton Ballew, Jr., Hal Cox, Dalton "Feller" Marcott and Jerry Sinkule.
