Alice Cepak Janecka

Alice (Cepak) Janecka, age 78, of Burleson, formerly of West, passed away Friday afternoon, July 13, 2018 at Baylor Scott and White Hospital in Waco. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant, assisted by Deacon Ronnie Sykora. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Alice was born April 4, 1940 in West, the daughter of Albert and Agnes (Sulak) Cepak. She attended school in Abbott and graduated from La Vega High School in 1958. While her children were of school age, Alice attended the University of Texas at Arlington and graduated in 1972 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art with a minor in Education earning a teaching certificate. Later, Alice took many courses at TCJC included aerobics, computers, electronics, swimming, life saving and was known as the first woman to get an Associate Degree in Automotive Service Technology at Tarrant County Junior College along with a certificate in Auto Body Repair. She was a homemaker, amateur radio operator and worked as a substitute teacher for over 6 years at the Burleson and Mansfield High Schools. Alice was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Burleson where she volunteered with a ladies group in the church making quilts for many events. She was also a member of the Arlington Radio Club, McLennan/Hill Czech Heritage Society, SPJST Lodge #180 in Burleson, and attended the Elk's lodge in Arlington, where she taught her children to swim. She loved life and enjoyed dancing, listening to Czech music, camping, hiking, swimming, playing volleyball, and traveling through Europe and most all states in the United States. Alice is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Daniel Cepak, Edward Cepak, Benny Cepak and Joseph Cepak; and sisters, Josephine Hanzlicek and Anna Hennig. Survivors include her beloved husband of 60 years, Joseph C. "Joe" Janecka of Burleson; children, Joey Janecka and wife Tracy Hinterman of Georgetown, Carl Janecka of Cedar Park, and Angela Lowe and husband Richard of Burleson; sisters-in-law, Helen Smith and JoAnn Cepak; brother-in-law, Jerry Janecka and wife Marie; grandchildren, Joseph Janecka, Nicklaus Janecka, Cheryl Serena and husband Matteo, and Stephanie Ross and husband Dave; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mark Janecka, Adam Janecka, Matteo Serena, Clarence Hennig, Anthony Cepak and Bennett Cepak. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Cemetery Association.
