Alfonse "Ike" Aimer, age 81, of Chalk Bluff, passed away Friday morning, August 28, 2009 at West Rest Haven. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2009 at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4819 Club in West, with military honors conducted by the Post Honor Guard. Mr. Aimer was born on September 12, 1927 near West, the son of John and Annie (Merenda) Aimer. He attended school in West and later served in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged on June 14, 1952 at the rank of Corporal. On October 20, 1962, he was united in marriage to Peggy Joan Peters in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ike worked in production control of aircraft for McDonald Douglas in Long Beach, California for thirty-five until his retirement in 1989. Upon their return to the central Texas area he became an active member of the V.F.W. Post 4819 in West. His parents and three brothers, Ernest Aimer, Albin Aimer and John Aimer, preceded him in death. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Peggy J. Aimer of Chalk Bluff; a son, Donald Allen Aimer of Irving; a brother, Joseph Aimer of Bellmead; a sister, Frances Barton and husband Edmund of Waco; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and freinds. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
