Alfons Mikuda, age 92, of West, passed away Thursday evening, December 27, 2012 at Providence Health Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu as celebrant. Burial will follow at Fatima Cemetery near Abbott. The family will receive visitors from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Tuesday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Alfons was born August 12, 1920 in Hill County, the son of Joseph and Hermina (Kallus) Mikuda. He attended St. Mary's School. Alfons worked as a mechanic for Adams Chevrolet, Scott Chevrolet and the Alamo Garage until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Alfons enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, listening to Czech music, and listening to the stock market news. He especially loved watching sports. Alfons is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Dorothy Sustala Mikuda. Survivors include a special friend, Catherine Bajer of West; two sisters-in-law, Helen Sustala of Abbott and Annie Sustala of Round Rock; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Bill Sustala, Dennis Sustala, David Sustala, Ronnie Kaluza, Shane Kaluza, Jeremy Kolar, Brian Kaluza and Larry Bajer. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
