Albert Lloyd York, age 68, of Gholson, passed away late Sunday evening, December 19, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Gholson, with the Rev. James Stevens officiating. Burial will follow at Gholson Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. York was born October 27, 1942 in Gholson, the son of Albert Carter and Nettie Mae (Weaver) York. He attended schools in Gholson and West before graduating from West High School in 1960. He then received his HVAC Certification from Texas State Technical College. On September 29, 1962 he was united in marriage to Betty Loraine Buzbee in Gholson. Albert worked in the maintenance department for the LaVega and Gholson School Districts for over 15 years, where he also served as a bus driver. He also worked for over 17 years with the National Linen Service in Ft. Worth. Albert was a member of First Baptist Church of Gholson, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No 54 in West, and the National Rifle Association. He enjoyed hunting, and collecting guns, knives, tools, and antiques. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Bonita York. Survivors include his beloved wife of 48 years, Betty York of Gholson; two sons, Allan L. York and wife Julia of Chalk Bluff and Jeffrey C. York of Elm Mott; two daughters, Robyn Barnes and husband Matthew of Chalk Bluff and Aaron York of Gholson; a daughter-in-law, Kelly York of Waco; a foster daughter, Tammy Stuart and husband Leonard of Valley Mills; a brother, Lonnie York and wife Paula of Gholson; three sisters, Betty Ann Atkins and husband Lee of Waco, Mildred Richardson and husband Otis and Bertha Bays, all of Axtell; 13 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Matthew Barnes, Grayson Barnes, Coty Kilgo, John Thomas Bays, David Richardson, David Ayers, Billy Ayers, and Donnie Ayers. Honorary pallbearers are William York, Jacob Barnes and Kenneth Willett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Gholson or to the American Heart Association.
