Alan Dale Bishop, age 59, of West, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 29, 2022 at Medical City Hospital in Ft. Worth.
Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 4, 2022 at the West Brethren Church, with Brother Gerry Davis and Brother Terry Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at West Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West.
Alan was born May 10, 1963 in Bossier City, Louisiana, the son of Elmer and Christine (Kral) Bishop. He was a 1981 graduate of West High School and went on to receive an associate degree in 1983 from Hill Junior College in Hillsboro. Alan was a member of the West Brethren Church. He was also a member of West VFW Post #4819 Auxiliary and helped deliver meals for the West Meals on Wheels program. He worked for Texas Department of Criminal Justice in Huntsville for over 30 years. Alan enjoyed visiting with friends at the VFW Club, cooking, collecting guns, hunting, and playing in local polka bands.
Survivors include his parents; Elmer and Christine Bishop; his sister, Michelle Martin and husband Jeff of West; a nephew and nieces, Justin, Ashley, and Brittany Martin, all of West; and many other relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers are Justin Martin, David Coleman, Billy Wayne Kral, Jason Berger, Kevin Berger, and Eddie McGilton. Honorary pallbearers are Rick Mynar and Norman Payne.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Brethren Church.
