Adolph Zatopek

Adolph Zatopek, age 90, of West, formerly of Temple, passed away Monday morning, October 28, 2019 at West Rest Haven in West. Graveside Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 31, 2019 at St. Mary's Cemetery in West, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki officiating. Military graveside rites will follow, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. Adolph was born May 31, 1929 in Cyclone, the son of Frank and Mary (Janosky) Zatopek. He attended schools in Cyclone and Temple. Adolph proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of sergeant and was the recipient of a bronze medal. On September 15, 1956 he was united in marriage to Agnes Mynarcik. Agnes preceded him in death on November 16, 2014. Adolph was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He worked for Temple Fire & Rescue for over 32 years before retiring in 1985. He enjoyed working outdoors, listening to Czech music and visiting with his many friends at the local bakeries. Adolph is also preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edward, Frank, Lad, and Henry Zatopek. Survivors include his sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Zatopek, Lily Popp and husband Kenneth, and Rosemary Mynarcik; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Rest Haven.
