Adolph J. Kolar, age 85 of West, passed away Sunday morning, September 10, 2006 in a Hillsboro hospital. Visitation will be 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Kotch Funeral Home in West. Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church of the Assumption in West; with Father Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military graveside services will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Kolar was born October 20, 1920 in West, Texas to Frank R. Kolar and Annie Gerik Kolar, and had lived in West all of his life. He was a member of St. Mary's Church of the Assumption, Catholic Workman, Cottonwood RVOS and VFW Post 4819 of West. He was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army from August 26, 1942 until January 24, 1946 serving in the Ardennes Rhineland Central Europe Campaign and received the American Theater Campaign medal and the Eame Campaign with three bronze stars, a good conduct medal and a World War II Victory medal. Mr. Kolar was a retired farmer and a retired employee of Sleigh Lumber Co. He married Elizabeth Fillip, August 2, 1952 at West. Mr. Kolar loved his grandchildren, working in the garden, raising cows, dancing, VFW meetings and Sunday night bingo. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, two brothers Frank and Rudolph Kolar and a granddaughter, Kelly Payne. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of West, two sons, Adolph Larry Kolar and wife Rene and Frankie Kolar all of West; two daughters, Rosemary Payne and husband James of Whitney and Joyce Wood and husband James of Alvarado; four brothers, Alfons Kolar of Mt. Calm, Raymond Kolar and wife Evelyn of West, Albin Kolar of Joshua and Johnny Kolar and wife Edda of West; three sisters, Mary Grmela and Angeline Kolar both of West and Annie Marek of Penelope; six grandchildren, Jason Payne, Tonya Kolar, Janna Kolar, Justin Wood, Jamie Wood and Kadale Kolar; a great-grandson, Nykolas Payne, and several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers will be Rudy Kolar, David Kolar, Ricky Kolar, Randy Kolar, Justin Wood, Jerry Raabe and Kadale Kolar. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 4819 of West. Memorials may be made to the West League Booster Club Summer Baseball and Softball or to St. Mary's Parish Center. Kotch Funeral Home of West is in charge of arrangements.
