Adolph J. Muska Jr., of West, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 1, 2012 in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Mr. Muska was born October 21, 1926 in Abbott, the son of Adolph J. and Magdalen (Jezek) Muska Sr. He attended St. Mary's School and graduated from West High School in 1943. He then attended 4-C Business College prior to going to work for the Veterans Administration Regional Office in Waco. On November 26, 1953 he was united in marriage to Helen Jo Podsednik in West. She preceded him in death on July 23, 1974. On April 18, 1993 he was then united in marriage to Carolyn Wolf Holloman in West. Adolph went to work for Walla Insurance Agency in 1953 before becoming owner and operator, he sold the business to his son in 1992. He served as Mayor of West from 1975 to 1985. In May of 1985 he received a Citizen of the Year Award from the West Chamber of Commerce where he also has served as a past President. Adolph was a very faithful member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, where he served as an usher. He was a member of West Kiwanis Club and Independent Insurance Agents of Waco/McLennan County where he served as past President for both. He was also a member of the K.J.T. Society No. 31, the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 and many other organizations. Adolph served on the Board of Directors for West Rest Haven, Brookhaven Youth Ranch, and the Moody Texas Ranger Library. He served as Associate Director and founding member of Westfest. He enjoyed reading, collecting antiques, traveling, and working on his 100 acre farm in Hoen. He especially loved spending time with his family. Adolph is also preceded in death by his parents; a son, Anthony Muska; a grandson, Nick Muska; a granddaughter, Candace Bohne; two sisters, Irene Nigro and Mary Rimkus; and a father-in-law, Joe A. Wolf. Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Muska of West; a son, Tommy Muska and wife Lisa, of West; a daughter, Sharon Muska of Hoen; a step-son, Jeff Holloman and wife Becky, of West; a step-daughter, Jennifer Holloman of Dallas; grandchildren, Brian Muska and wife Elizabeth, Dean Muska, Claire Muska, and Abigail, Allison, Audrey and Brett Holloman; great grandsons, Jacob Piche' and Brayden Muska;a great grandchild on the way; his mother-in-law, Helen Wolf; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Brian Muska, Dean Muska, Joe Rimkus Jr., Donald Nigro Jr., Keith Nigro, David Nigro, Tim Nigro, Billy Wolf, Bob Wolf, Eugene Roznos Sr., and Jake Tucker. Honorary pallbearers are Nelda Prause, Roseanne Morris and the Directors and Staff of West Rest Haven. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund, West Rest Haven Memorial Fund, or West Volunteer Ambulance Association.
