Addie Laura Smiley

Addie Laura "Honey" Smiley, age 75, of Elm Mott, passed away Monday November 3, 2008 in Temple. Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at White Rock Cemetery near Ross, with Pastor Frances Sidenblad officiating. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Smiley was born on April 17, 1933 in Milford, the daughter of Judd and Rachael (Holder) Woodruff. She attended Elm Mott School and on March 2, 1951, she was united in marriage to Jewel Monroe Smiley in Waco. He preceded her in death in February, 1997. She worked for the Connally Independent School District as a cook for 40 years before retiring in August, 2008. Addie loved flower gardening and vegetable gardening, especially raising black-eyed peas, okra, and growing roses. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. She is also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Smiley; a granddaughter, Margie Smiley; two brothers, Richard Woodruff and Clifton Woodruff; and one sister, Mary Hicks. Survivors include one son, Larry Smiley and wife Liz of Leroy; two brothers, Judd Woodruff, Jr. and wife Barbara and Willie Easter and wife Benda, all of Chalk Bluff; one sister, Louise Sharp and husband, Billy of Bellmead; two sisters-in-law, Mildred Woodruff of Robinson and Gretchen Woodruff of Axtell; a brother-in-law, Mike Hicks of Lacy Lakeview; three grandchildren, Patrick Smiley and wife Rosie of San Antonio, Laura Lee and husband Daniel of Gardners, PA, and Stacy Walton and husband Erik of Robinson; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.
