A.B. Summers, age 77, of West, formerly of Mart, passed away early Tuesday morning, November 5, 2019 at his residence. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating. A.B. was born February 3, 1942 in Coolidge, the son of Roy and Virgie (Owens) Summers. He attended school in Mart. On October 15, 1987 he was united in marriage to Mary Gilchrist in Waco. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Mart. A.B. worked as a self-employed home renovator for many years, followed by owning and operating a storage unit facility in West. He was quite a handyman and frequently helped others with projects. A.B. enjoyed listening to country music, going to concerts, and fishing. He especially loved spending time with his family. A.B. is preceded in death by his parents; his sons, Jeff Summers and wife Pam, and Jason Summers; a stepson-in-law, Larry Payne; and brothers, James Henry Summers, Wylie Summers, Bob Summers, and William "Bubba" Summers. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Mary Summers of West; daughters, Avelin "Abby" Callaway and husband Kenny, and Ardie Moore and husband Carey; step-daughters, Paula Payne, Ronda Tindell and husband Jody, and Tanya Willingham; brothers, Curtis Summers, Leo Summers, Joe Summers and wife Evelyn, and Royce Lyn Summers and wife Belinda; sisters, Mary Lou Turman and husband Ernest, Sandra Hatley, and Lillie "Sissy" Yrios; brothers and sisters-in-law, James Gilchrist and wife Karen, Billy Gilchrist and wife Arlene, David Gilchrist and wife Jenny, Doris Maywald and husband Archie, and Nelda Summers; 19 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund.
