Robert Joe Kasik, age 74, of Abbott, passed away Saturday evening, August 28, 2021 at Ascension Providence Hospital in Waco. Funeral Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 at West Brethren Church in West, with Rev. Gerry Davis officiating. Military Graveside Rites will follow at West Brethren Cemetery, conducted by West Veteran's Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are encouraged at all services. Robert was born April 24, 1947 in Waco, the son of Joseph and Christine (Matus) Kasik. He attended Penelope and West schools. On June 6, 1971 he was united in marriage to Jolynn Marek in West. Robert proudly served his country with the United States Army and was known as a very patriotic man. He spent most of his time farming and caring for his family. He was a lifelong and faithful member of West Brethren Church, and was also a member of VFW Post #4819 and American Legion Post #478. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing and target-shooting. He loved family get-togethers and his family, especially his grandchildren. Robert is preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Gilbert Marek. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Jolynn Kasik of Abbott; his children, Chris Kasik and wife Wanida of Abbott, Amy Helona and husband Chris of Lorena, and Carla Montes and husband Billy of Abbott; brothers, Edward Kasik, Harry Kasik and wife Coco, and Ronnie Kasik and wife Christie; a sister, Lillian Marek; grandchildren, Elliot, Penelope, Archer, Alex, Jackson, Caden, Kaitlyn, Trinati, Maya, Marcos, and Lindsey; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are David Carreon, Steve Cope, Jeff Johanson, Tommy Kasik, Chad Kasik, Markus Creech, Curtis Schutza and Brian Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are John Engelke, John Kasik, Jr., Harry Svacek, and his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Brethren Church or West or Abbott Athletic Booster Club.
