Nelda L. Leuschner

Nelda L. Leuschner, age 96, of Waco, passed away Saturday morning, August 8, 2015 at Royal Manor Nursing Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Gerald with Rev. Tom Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Gerald Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at Aderhold Funeral Home. Nelda was born August 6, 1919 in Waco, the daughter of Fred and Emilie (Keller) Weissinger. She attended school in Gerald and graduated from LaVega High School. On November 16, 1939 she was united in marriage to Anton Chris "Sam" Leuschner in Gerald. Sam preceded her in death on August 22, 1979. Nelda was a seamstress for Lorch Manufacturing Company in West for over 27 years before retiring in 1986. Nelda also worked in the concession stand at the Heart of Texas Speedway for many years. She was a devoted mother and faithful member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where she was active in the Women's Guild. She was also a member of the American Legion Post #121 Ladies Auxiliary and VFW Post #2148 Ladies Auxiliary. Nelda loved dancing with the Young At Heart and the Sul Ross Senior Citizen Dancing Clubs. She also enjoyed volunteering and going to casinos. Nelda is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Rhonda Leuschner;and two brothers, Almot Weissinger and Albert Weissinger. Survivors include three sons, Alton Leuschner and wife Nina, Eugene Leuschner and wife Phyllis and Vernon Leuschner and wife Kathy, all of Robinson; three daughters, Judy Urbanovsky and husband Dennis of Gholson, Sandra Leuschner and husband Jimmy of Gatesville and Polly Williams and husband Ed of Allen; 12 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren with another great grandson on the way; 3 great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Jimmy Dale Gribble, Paul Urbanovsky, Darrell Urbanovsky, Lisa Schmedthorst, Cheryl Williams and Lexie Vasser. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Paul's United Church of Christ or the Gerald Cemetery Association.
