Mary I. Birmingham, age 87, of Abbott, passed away early Monday afternoon, September 2, 2013 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. A rosary will be recited and Memorial Services held 10:00 a.m. Friday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Boniface Onjefu officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:00 a.m. Friday until service time at the funeral home. Mary was born January 3, 1926 in Fair Haven, VT the daughter of Patrick Seymour and Margaret Kelso (Williams) Egan. She attended schools in Fair Haven. She was united in marriage to N. C. "Nute" Birmingham in Mississippi. He preceded her in death on July 2, 1993. Mary was a homemaker and worked for over 15 years as a cashier at the Turkey Shop in Abbott. She was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Abbott. Mary loved taking care of Nute and spending time at the cabin in the piney woods near Athens. She enjoyed crocheting; collecting cat figurines, pins and pendants; and was well known as a very giving person. Mary is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, James Egan, Patrick Egan, Martin Egan and William Egan; and sisters, Elizabeth DeFransisco and Sarah Wade. Survivors include a son, Joe Egan and wife Kaye of Whitehall, New York; stepsons, N.C. Birmingham Jr and Jimmie Birmingham; sisters, Kathryn Benjamin and husband Leslie and Margaret Ryan; a sister-in-law, Bonnie Egan; grandchildren, Fenwick Egan and wife Donielle and Jane Egan; great grandchildren, Fenwick and Morgan Egan; special friends, Bob Tufts and Ryan Kaska and families; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
