Joseph Boot Hill

Joseph Melvin "Boot" Hill, age 83, of West, passed away early Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at Providence Hospice Place in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2017 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Edward Middlebrook II officiating. Burial will follow at Bold Springs Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Joe was born January 15, 1934 in Temple, the son of Pinkney and Elsie Mae (Westmoreland) Hill. He attended schools in Temple and Waco before graduating from Waco Technical High School in 1952. On August 29, 1952 he was united in marriage to Peggy Nix in Waco. Joe worked for the Waco Post Office for over 25 years. After retiring he worked for Community Grocery in West. He was a believer in the Identity Christian Faith. Joe enjoyed singing, drawing, raising game chickens, writing poetry and playing the guitar. He coached several baseball teams, officiated sporting events and played fast pitch softball. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and watching all their sporting events. Joe is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Durwood Hill, Sherwood Hill and Robert Hill; sisters, Wanda Beckham, Jeanne Squillace and Gloria Gould; and son-in-law, Ed Middlebrook. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Peggy Hill of West; his children, Dennis Hill and wife Linda of West, Kenneth Hill and wife Melinda of West, Sharon Middlebrook Mena and husband Randy of Bryan and Becky Holloman and husband Jeff of West; a sister, Camille Hutchens; grandchildren, Lindsay Hill, Zachary Hill and Jessica, Shaun Hill, Edward Middlebrook II and wife Rebecca, Kathryn Frazier and husband Kyle, Sarah Armor and husband Kevin, Abigail Holloman, Allison Holloman, Audrey Holloman, Brett Holloman and step granddaughter, Katelin Mena; great grandchildren, Jason, Edward III, Katie, Elizabeth, Kelly Brooke, Madelyn, Chloe, Kaleb and step great granddaughter Janessa; and many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Zachary Hill, Kyle Frazier, Kevin Armor, Jeff Holloman, Randy Mena and Richard Sulak. Honorary pallbearers are Shaun Michael Hill, Brett Holloman, Jason Dwayne Hill, Kaleb Luke Frazier and Edward Ray Middlebrook, III. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Waco Methodist Home, West Little League Association or to West Athletic Booster Club.
