Jacquelyn Halamik, age 81, of Wharton, passed away early Friday afternoon, November 16, 2018 at Garden Villa Nursing Home in El Campo. Graveside services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at St. Martin's Cemetery near West, with Rev. Terry McElrath officiating. The family will receive visitors from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Jacquelyn was born February 7, 1937 in East St. Louis, Illinois, the daughter of Melvin and Lulanell (Dorset) Kollme. She was a graduate of Sunset High School in Dallas and attended Dallas County Community College and Mountain View Junior College where she received an associate degree in business. On July 17, 1956 she was united in marriage to John F. Hobbs Sr. in Dallas. John preceded her in death on April 10, 1969 while on active duty with the United State Air Force in Japan. Jacquelyn was then united in marriage to Emanuel A. Halamik on December 4, 1970 in Dallas. After moving to Wharton in 1976, Emanuel also preceded her in death on September 30, 2006. Jacquelyn was a homemaker, wife and mother. She enjoyed attending church, studying The Bible, living the country life, traveling by RV and researching family genealogy. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Jacquelyn is also preceded in death by her parents and a son, John Hobbs Jr. Survivors include her children, Ronald Hobbs and wife Mary Jane of Wharton, Michael Hobbs of Dierks, AR, and Keisha Hickson and husband Sterling of Huntsville, AL; her sisters, Judy Burgamy, and husband Larry and Jerry Castle and husband Earl; 16 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
