Dovie Jares Gallander

Dovie (Bell) Jares Gallander, age 71, of Mt. Calm, formerly of West, passed away late Thursday evening, March 5, 2015 at Providence Healthcare Center in Waco. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 10, 2015 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel, with David Snipes officiating. Burial will follow at White Rock Cemetery near Ross. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Dovie was born September 9, 1943 in West, the daughter of Rolan and Lillian (Peterson) Bell. She attended school in West and was a 1962 graduate of West High School, prior to attending McLennen Community College. On June 6, 1964 she was united in marriage to Don Jares in West. Don preceded her in death on May 11, 1983. Dovie was then united in marriage to Ed Gallander on March 9, 1996 in West. Dovie worked for the Reporter Newspaper and KHBR Radio in Hillsboro for many years before retiring in 2014. Prior to that she worked for the West News, Pizza House, Rangaire, Henry's Grocery, TSTC and AEFES. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, crocheting, dancing and visiting with family and friends. Dovie is also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Janice Jares; a son, Jason Jares; and a brother, James Bell. Survivors include her beloved husband of 19 years, Ed Gallander of Mt. Calm; a son, Jeff Jares and wife Clare of Birome, two daughters, Jennifer Ashley and husband Mike of West and Judy Trevino and husband Johnny of Gholson; sisters, Ann Reese and Shellie Uptmore; grandchildren, Chad Kerr and wife Holli, Julia Hollister and husband Dylan, Jordan Jares, James Jares, Jacob, Tyler, Breanna, Boedy and Gracie Ashley, Steven Jares, and Lauren Jares; great grandchildren, Peyton, Bentlee and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Mike Bell, David Bell, Tom Prater, Jimmy Uptmore, Frankie Uptmore, Ronnie Reese, Mike Ashley and Johnny Trevino. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
