Dorothy Mae Riggs, age 76, of West, formerly of Dallas, passed away early Saturday evening, February 27, 2010 at West Rest Haven in West. Rosary and Funeral Services will be held 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West, with Rev. Ed Karasek officiating. Graveside services will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas. Dorothy Mae was born on January 13, 1934 in Dallas, the daughter of James Henry and Gladys Mae (Yates) Riggs. She was raised in the Dallas area and attended Stephen F. Austin Elementary School and graduated from N. R. Crozier Technical High School in Dallas. She worked as a paralegal secretary for several attorneys in the Dallas area and for Bishop Thomas K. Gorman with the Dallas Diocese Chancery Office before moving back to West in 2005. Dorothy Mae loved to spend time with her family and attending all of the Catholic Conferences. In her spare time she enjoyed painting and drawing pictures. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She is preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, James Riggs, Leonard Riggs and infant, William Riggs. Survivors include three sisters; Mary Ann Kershaw and husband Dick of Lake Forest, California, Mattie Hoelscher and husband Eugene of West and Ginny Bunch and husband Freddy of Itasca; a brother, Jack Riggs and wife Ella Nora of Wellington, Florida; a sister-in-law, Lucille Riggs of Liberty, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pallbearers are Phil Hoelscher, Dillon Hoelscher, Harlan Kamm, and Daryl Hoelscher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary's Clerical Endowment Fund or the Alzheimer's Association.
