Dorothy Edwards

Dorothy Edwards, age 72, of Robinson, passed away early Saturday morning, October 27, 2012 at Providence Hospital in Waco. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Meadowbrook Baptist Church in Robinson, with Rev. Cary Killough officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Mrs. Edwards was born March 15, 1940 in Westphalia, the daughter of Leslie Lee and Ethel (Burgess) Mercer. She attended schools in Rosebud-Lott and Chilton before graduating from Axtell High School in 1960. On November 27, 1964 she was united in marriage to Moody E. Edwards Jr. in Robinson. He preceded her in death on June 2, 2012. Dorothy was a homemaker and worked in the cafeteria at Robinson High School and for the Robinson Dairy Queen. She was a very faithful member of the Meadowbrook Baptist Church, where she worked in the nursery. She was also a member of the S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 66. Dorothy enjoyed singing, whistling, taking walks, playing bingo, working word puzzles, watching sports, and watching the Lifetime Movie Network. She especially loved spending time with her grandson, Ben and adopted grandchildren, Alijah and Levi. Dorothy is also preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Claud Mercer and J.B. Mercer; and sister, Florine Davis. Survivors include two sons, Brian Edwards and wife Jennifer of Northfield, MN and Patrick Edwards and wife Veronica of Waco; sister, Marie Taylor and husband Buddy; grandchildren, Bennett Weston Edwards and Blake Holmes; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and especially her church family. Active pallbearers are Jim Hare, Homer Dale Cox, Larry Jones, Will Suarez, Armando Pino, and Tim Taylor. Honorary pallbearers are the Meadowbrook Baptist Church Deacons. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meadowbrook Baptist Church Children's Ministry.
