Donnie "Joe" Hale, age 69, of Abbott, passed away Sunday morning, January 31, 2021 at Hillcrest Medical Center in Waco. The family will receive visitors from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 10, 2021 Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West. Limited capacity, facial masks, and social distancing are required at all services. Joe was born February 5, 1951 in Danville, Illinois the son of the late Donald and Florence (Bixler) Hale. He was a graduate of Jamaica High School in Jamaica, IL. On July 5, 1975 he was united in marriage to Dianna Phillips in Ridgefarm, IL. Joe was a member of Abbott Baptist Church. He was an electrician for Chapparal Steel, now Gerdau Metals in Midlothian, for the past 35 years. He previously worked for Hyster Fork Lift and Murdock Coal Mine in Murdock, Illinois. Joe enjoyed all sports, mowing his yard, being outdoors, working on cars, taking care of all his animals and collecting Santa Clauses and pocket knives. He loved spending time with his family and spoiling his grandchildren. Survivors include his beloved wife of 46 years, Dianna Hale of Abbott; his children, Joshua Hale and Jared Hale and wife Susan, both of Abbott, and Jon Hale and wife Sarah of Houston; grandchildren, Garrett Hale and wife Cameron, Cody Hale, Ezra Hale, and Logan Holt; great grandchildren, Raeliegh and Dawson Hale; his siblings, Nancy Burnett and husband Dale, Cathy Hutson and husband Gene, Jerry Hale and wife Chrissy, Donna Collins and husband Otto, and Teresa Ross and husband Danny; his brothers-in-law, Howard Phillips, James Phillips and wife Pauline, and Stephen Phillips; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Heart Association.
