Deborah Vochoska

Deborah Margaret "Minka" Vochoska, age 60, of West, passed away late Monday morning, November 29, 2010 at M. D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. A vigil will be held 6:00 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, by Deacons Jim Rogers, Tim Hayden, Richard Johnson and Jerry Opperman, with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek, Rev. Anthony Odiong, and Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Vochoska was born June 28, 1950 in Corpus Christi, the daughter of Aloysius "A. C." and Margaret Marie "Marge" (Holacka) Haberl. She attended St. Mary's School, graduated from West High School in 1968, and attended T.S.T.C.'s Dental Assistant Program. On December 27, 1969 she was united in marriage to Kenneth Vochoska in West. Deborah worked as a dental assistant for Dr. I.E. Burkman before attending Navarro College to become a medical Lab Technician. She then worked for the West Community Hospital for several years as a lab and x-ray technician before going to work for Dr. Jose Eisma, where she spent the last 33 years. Deborah was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption where she served as a Lector, Eucharistic Minister, R.C.I.A. instructor, was a motivating force in starting Eucharistic Adoration, helped bring the ACTS Ministry to her parish, and helped to get the Spanish Mass started. She was also a member of Catholic Daughter's of America Society #829; St. Anne's Altar Society where she served as President; K.J.Z.T. Society #11; and the P.T.C. Choir. She enjoyed gardening, tending her flowers, riding horses, raising miniature donkeys, and walking on the beach. Deborah especially loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Deborah is preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Tim Haberl. Survivors include her beloved husband of 40 years; Deacon Kenneth Vochoska of West; a daughter, Kenna Whitehead and husband Kirk of Lampasas; a son, Gregg Vochoska and wife Devon of McKinney; two brothers, Malcolm Haberl and wife Doris of Elm Mott and Frank Haberl and wife Renee of Lewisville; two sisters, Denice Kubacak and husband Allan of West and Dolores Nemec and husband David of Woodway; three grandchildren, Raegan and Ace Whitehead and Jackson Vochoska; her parents-in-law, William and Gerleen Vochoska; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Active pallbearers are Deacon Paul Hudson, Ryan Nemec, Christopher Kubacak, Paul Haberl, Jason Darling, and Mark Tobola. Honorary pallbearers are Kevin Shea and all of her nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Anne's Altar Society (504 Meadow Dr., West, TX 76691), Ovarian Cancer Society or to St. Mary's School Endowment Fund.
